How Long Is The Process?
Stage One: Online Application & Pre-Approval
1. Application preparation in the Chinese Online Visa Application (COVA) system
(1–3 business days)
Oasis prepares and submits your application through the official COVA system. If an application is deemed insufficient, the visa office may request additional information or documents. Based on current trends, the pre-approval review typically takes 5–10 business days. Once resubmitted, the application re-enters the queue for review.
Thanks to our extensive experience, most applications are pre-approved on the first submission.
2. Pre-approval review by the visa office
(3–10 business days)
Pre-approval does not mean the visa has been issued. It authorizes the applicant to submit their passport for final processing.
3. Inbound shipping to Oasis
(1–3 business days)
After submitting the COVA application, your assigned case manager may request that you mail in your passport while pre-approval is pending. Detailed mailing instructions and a document checklist will be provided.
Stage Two: Embassy Processing & Visa Issuance
4. Visa processing and issuance
(3–5 business days)
Once both the passport and pre-approval are received, the Embassy conducts a second and final review after the passport is formally submitted. If approved, the Chinese visa sticker will be issued and placed in your passport.
Some cases may require additional administrative review, which can result in extended processing times. The Embassy does not provide a guaranteed decision date. When a decision is made, you or Oasis will be notified directly by the visa office.
5. Outbound return shipping
(2 business days via FedEx 2Day®)
Important Notice
Processing times may vary by season and according to the workload of the Chinese Embassy or Consulate General. Actual processing times may be shorter or longer than the estimates listed above.
